The Finance Officer’s responsibility to the Town of Weddington and its citizens is to ensure that adequate controls exist in order to protect the Town’s funds and maintain adequate and accurate records of all financial transactions.  The Finance Officer is also responsible for the preparation and management of the Town’s annual budget.  See the Budget and Audited financial statements here.

How It Works 

The Town of Weddington operates under charters granted by the General Assembly and has powers and authorities granted by state statutes and the state constitution. In this state, municipalities do not have home rule, which means that the state legislature must grant the powers and authority to municipalities and authorize them to perform certain functions.

The Town of Weddington is located in the northwestern corner of Union County, NC approximately 15 miles southeast of the City of Charlotte and 14 miles northwest of downtown Monroe. The Town encompasses approximately 17 square miles or roughly 11,000 acres. The Town's population as of the 2020 US Census is 13,181 residents.
