The Town’s goal is to encourage and promote responsible development to meet the opportunities of Weddington’s future. We are committed to protecting the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens within our community through quality customer service, education and planning. The goal is to collaboratively work with citizens and new developments to create a place where people live, work and play in a safe environment.

All decisions are made keeping in mind the goals of the Land Use Plan.

The day-to-day duties of the Planner include: Assisting the public with interpretations of ordinances, plans, and policies; reviewing development proposals; processing zoning and building permits; reviewing major and minor subdivisions site plans and plats; community development initiatives; updating and maintaining the zoning map and other geographic information systems; upkeep with zoning and Code Enforcement; and liaison to various boards and committees.
