Public Support Needed for NC16 expansion by August 9, 2017

Town of Weddington Seeks Public Input to Support $52.2M in Road Improvements

The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) has opened a thirty-day public comment period to obtain public input on its 2018-2027 Draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), amendments to the 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), and the air quality conformity determination report for the MTP & TIP.

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) identifies the transportation projects and strategies that Charlotte Regional Transportation Organization (CRTPO) and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plan to undertake over the next ten years. This is the region’s way of allocating its transportation resources among the various capital and operating needs of the area based on a clear set of short-term transportation priorities. The TIP is not a "wish list" of projects.

One project on the list represents $52.2 M in funding for a complete improvement of Highway 16 from Rea Road Ext. to Cuthbertson Rd.  The fund allocation for these projects is a multi-level process that will take time and public input to complete.

The last step in the process before final approval is public comment. The CRTPO has opened a public comment period to obtain public input on the 2018-2027 Draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Let the CRTPO know you, “support Projects U-5769A which improves and widens Highway 16.
