The Town of Weddington has a vacancy on the Town Council for the District 3 seat. Councilmembers are now accepting applications from residents living in District 3 interested in serving the community in this role. 

In accordance with the Town's Rules of Procedures, the Council will not make an appointment sooner than 30 days and no later than 90 days from the date the vacancy occurred. this timeline allows interested residents adequate time to submit the applications and ensures a thoughtful selection process.

In accordance with NCGS 160A-63, the individual appointed to fill the vacancy will serve until the next Town election in November 2027. At that time, the District 3 seat will be placed on the ballot for a candidate to be elected to serve the remainder of the vacant term, which runs through November 2029.
