On April 22, 2023, Union County will be hosting a stream bank conservation and restoration workshop. An informative and hands-on workshop aimed at learning the basics of streambank repair and the impacts of stream erosion. Many homeowners and HOAs in Union County have streams with eroded and cut banks. Over time, this can lead to a loss in property value and even threaten structures. Soil eroding into creeks is also a major pollutant, degrading ecological integrity.

At the January 2023 regular meeting, the Town Council voted to move forward with approval of an ordinance amending the town charter to change the form of government to a Council-Manager form. On February 13, the town received a referendum petition to submit the charter amendment to a vote in the November 2023 municipal election.
