Union County System Development Fee Report PUBLIC COMMENT

In North Carolina, public water and wastewater systems may charge a fee to home builders or developers when they request to connect a new property to the County's water and/or wastewater system. These fees – known as "System Development Fees" - enable public utilities to recover their costs associated with new development.

Per state law, water and wastewater utilities are required to conduct an analysis of their System Development Fee structure at least every five years. Union County is conducting this analysis in the spring of 2023, in advance of the Board of County Commissioners' annual budget deliberations.

Union County is soliciting public input on the System Development Fee report between May 2-June 16. Click below to read the report and give your feedback.
