Town of Weddington ~ Union County Sheriff's Office Contract Deputies

The Town contracts with the Union County Sheriff’s Office for three Weddington Deputies who are stationed out of the Town Hall.  The Weddington Deputies welcome the opportunity to speak at your Homeowner’s Association Meetings about community watch and personal and community safety programs. FALSE ALARM ORDINANCE

The rising number of false alarms being transmitted to the Town of Weddington and the increased cost of responding to these false alarms, both in the form of equipment and manpower, necessitates the enactment of regulations designed to reduce the incidence of false alarms and to recover some of the costs incurred in responding thereto.  Listed below are the fines for excessive false burglar, emergency service and fire alarms:

Fines for Excessive False Burglar or Emergency Service Alarms are as Follows:

First Two False Alarms are Free

3rd through 5th

$50.00 per occurrence

6th and 7th

$100.00 per occurrence

8th and 9th

$250.00 per occurrence

10th and over

$500.00 per occurrence

Fines for Excessive False Fire Alarms are as Follows:

First Two False Alarms are Free

3rd through 5th

$200.00 per occurrence

6th and 7th

$300.00 per occurrence

8th or over

$500.00 per occurrence


Fee for Not Registering your Alarm System are as follows:

Any person who fails to obtain a permit required in the preceding paragraph shall subject such person to a civil penalty of $50.00 dollars for each day they fail to obtain such a permit.  Each day a person fails to obtain a permit required herein is a separate offense and is subject to a separate civil penalty provided herein.  The civil penalty provided herein is recoverable by the Town in a civil action in the nature of debt if the offender does not pay the civil penalty within 30 days after being cited for violation of this provision of the Ordinance.
